Imagine being able to manipulate atoms with a touch of your hands. To use that ability to diagnose and heal others. Helia Celeste can do these exceptional things. She is an Elemental, a being with unique abilities due to the presence in her cells of original atoms hailing from the awesome explosion of the Big Bang that sparked the beginning of creation. Not that Helia really believes in her abilities or the existence of other Elementals.

Centuries ago, conflict between Elementals and the other beings in their world caused Elementals to shroud themselves in mystery, change history, and deny their existence. Helia was raised by her widowed mother to live a normal life in service to others as a mender in training. She keeps the secret of her ability to herself for her own safety. Until the day when that safety is unexpectedly ripped away in a horrific and tragic event that leaves Helia questioning who she is and how she can possibly move forward.

As forces align against her, Helia grapples with emotions that feel beyond her ability to control. She is forced to trust Auric Cressida with her life, a new acquaintance she barely knows, but whom she feels a deep and inexplicable pull towards, and one who may prove to be as exceptional as she is herself. On her harrowing journey, Helia must face who she is, what she is made of, and all that entails in order to move past the devastation of the life she knew and move forward into an unexpected future.
